Privacy Policy

GlobalFerries ("we", "us") is an independent ferry-booking aggregator. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR. If you only browse the site, we collect very little; if you create an account or make a booking, we collect what's needed to provide that service.

What we collect

• Account data: your email address, an optional display name, and a securely hashed password.
• Booking data: passenger names and dates of birth, your contact email, the crossing(s) booked, any vehicle details, and the amount paid.
• Saved travellers (optional): names, dates of birth and traveller type you choose to store to speed up future bookings.
• Technical data: a strictly-necessary session cookie (gf_session) that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we use it (legal basis)

• To perform your booking (contract): creating, confirming and managing your crossing and sending your booking confirmation.
• To run your account (contract): authentication and access to your bookings.
• Marketing (consent): only if you opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time in your account settings.
• Security and fraud prevention (legitimate interests): rate limiting and abuse protection.

Who we share it with

To fulfil a booking we share the necessary passenger and vehicle details with the ferry operator carrying you and with our payment and email service providers. We never sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep booking records for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal and accounting obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Login sessions expire after 30 days. If you delete your account, your profile and saved travellers are removed and the personal details in your past bookings are anonymised.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing. You can update your details or delete your account from account settings. To make any other request, contact us via the contact page. You may also complain to your data-protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
